This series will feature an interview and style session with a creative, successful woman in an effort to explore their relationship with fashion, career and life. We want to know how they got where they are, what they love, what they've learned and what they wear.

Meet Vancouver-based stylist Priscilla DeMarchi. Priscilla's work can be spotted on the heads of some of Vancouver's most stylish women. We can't tell you how many times we've complemented the hair of a woman on the street, only to find out that it's Priscilla who's responsible.

Priscilla not only has a keen aesthetic when it comes to her work, she is one of the most stylish woman we know and someone who has a masterful sense of what her own signature style is.

We've had many rambling conversations in her chair, from where to find the best Italian food - "La Quercia" (her family is from Italy) to childbirth and pregnancy - Priscilla also happens to be a doula - and of course the latest in fashion, beauty and hair. Here are just a few of the things we talked about today. Enjoy!

When did you know you wanted to be a hair stylist?

I realized that I had found something that allowed me to be creative not only with my hands but with the life I wanted to create for myself. I'm able to explore the world, learn and practice my craft without borders, teach what I've learned and meet and work with - and be inspired by people on a daily basis.

Can you share what it means to have a self-made career and to work independently?

Working independently and having a self made career is all I know. It's all I've ever done. It means everything - my freedom, to be me, to be a mother, lover, artist, giver, shaker and hibernator.

Describe a personal ritual.

Baths are a personal ritual every evening. Bubbles? Sometimes. Candles? Occasionally. Bath salts? Yes! It's my time no matter what kind of day it's been to be with myself and reflect and let go of the stresses. It's the time where I think about new ideas and relax.
